Simon is an occupational therapist who gained his degree from Charles Sturt University in Australia in 2002. He has extensive experience of working in the private sector, NHS and social care settings as a case manager, expert witness and occupational therapist.

Simon has worked in a variety of clinical fields in the UK and in Australia including spinal cord injury, neurology, acquired brain injury, amputees and orthopaedics. He has experience of in-patient and community based work and as such understands the needs of clients with complex injuries from both a discharge planning perspective and also the longer term management aspect. Simon is skilled in the setup, implementation and review of complex care packages, as well as goal setting and implementation of rehabilitation programmes.

Simon has worked for many years as a case manager. Through this work he has undertaken recruitment and ongoing supervision of care staff, management of complex care situations in the community, facilitating discharge from hospital, sourcing and adapting accommodation for his clients, arranging provision of specialist equipment, and training carers and personal assistants. Through his occupational therapy work he has extensive experience in the assessment and provision of manual handling equipment and the training of carers and families. Simon works as a private occupational therapist specialising in providing environmental design and adaptation services, specialist equipment provision, and functional rehabilitation for his clients.

Simon is a strong advocate of multidisciplinary working having worked in numerous multidisciplinary teams across private, NHS and social care settings. He has worked with and managed occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, support staff and carers. He is experienced in urgent and crisis response intervention as well as long term planning. He has experience of working with statutory and private care agencies, including recruitment, monitoring and training of these staff. As a case manager Simon has extensive experience of recruiting and managing therapy teams, care and support staff, as well as working with private medical specialists.

Simon is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council, The Case Management Society UK, the British Association of Occupational Therapists and is an advanced practitioner member of the British Association of Brain Injury & Complex Case Management. He is committed to lifelong learning and as such ensures he regularly maintains his skills by attending a range of training courses and conferences. As a Case Manager, Simon undertakes immediate needs assessments and acts as a case manager on complex cases.
