Laura specialises in working with clients who have experienced life changing catastrophic injuries, in particular multiple trauma, amputees and spinal injuries. She is also specialised in pain management having been responsible for the persistent pain management service in Portsmouth for a number of years.
Laura has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. She is experienced in assessing and managing care teams and ensuring her clients receive the best possible support and care so they are able to achieve their maximum level of potential. Laura has highly efficient assessment skills and is client centred. She is also solution focused, identifying clients’ needs and problem solving whilst recognising the need for individualised rehabilitation programmes to enable her clients to return to their preinjury hobbies and activities or enabling them to discover new ones.
Laura uses a goal centred approach empowering her clients and their families/carers to be actively engaged in the rehabilitation journey.
Laura recognises the psychological impact of catastrophic injuries as well as the physical injuries and supports her clients with compassion and empathy.
Laura qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1995 from The University of Bath and completed a Master’s degree at the University of Brighton in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2011. She has over 25 years’ experience working in a variety of clinical settings in both the NHS and in private settings.
Laura also lectures in physiotherapy to under graduates at the University of Chichester, ensuring that she is clinically sound and up to date with her practice and skills.
