Alison has over 20 years’ experience working with clients’ who have sustained catastrophic and life changing injuries; 13 years of this were spent working as a specialist nurse within the neuroscience unit in Oxford. Alison specialised in neurology and neurosurgery and has worked in both acute hospital settings but also in community settings. Alison is able to comprehensively assess and make recommendations for the management of clients with long term conditions and complex care needs. Alison works holistically to review the client, considering all their environmental and social needs. She also works closely with the families to ensure that all needs are addressed.
Alison has experience supporting clients with Disorders of Consciousness, and the specialist clinical requirements of these clients. She is passionate about ensuring their quality of life is prioritised and works to ensure they are given adequate opportunities to progress within their rehabilitation.
Through her work as a case manager Alison has built an extensive network of rehabilitation clinicians and resources, whom she trusts and has seen them support clients to achieve their goals. Working with clients who have sustained a catastrophic injury means that she is also able to navigate providing care, both through statutory services, the CCG and also via private providers.
Alison always keeps the client at the forefront of her recommendations and works to ensure that they are a heard voice within the process. She has a calm approach and prides herself on her communication skills. Clients comment on her care and support which brings them comfort.
Alison’s experience and knowledge base equips her with the ability to carry out comprehensive assessments, provide recommendations for treatment and care package provision whilst reviewing progress in relation to client’s rehabilitation needs. Alison has experience with working with clients and families with complex care needs and is skilled at working collaboratively with a range of professionals to ensure the multidisciplinary needs of clients are addressed. Alison has considerable expertise dealing with clients and families who have been involved with traumatic and progressive life changing events; augmented by her BA (Hons) in Palliative Care. Alison has experience and qualifications in counselling and bereavement. Alison combines a naturally empathic style, with a skilful use of knowledge and a common sense approach to achieve effective outcomes for her clients and families, often in very challenging circumstances.

Experience
- Complex case management including brain injury, orthopaedic / multiple trauma, chronic disease management and palliative care
- Managing highly challenging clients and their families Assessing at a specialist practitioner level in relation to pain management and symptom control
- Assessing and providing recommendations in relation to cognitive impairment / function and rehabilitation Working in primary care, secondary care and the private sector and the ability to work across boundaries Management of domiciliary care services, and the implementation of care packages
- Managing and supervising therapists and support workers Experience in managing complex family dynamics including those involving safeguarding issues
- Experience in managing clients and families in relation to health loss and adjustment
- Experience of assessing and providing guidance for adults with anxiety and depression
- Accessing funding through private and statutory avenues Managing client held accounts
- Undertaking Immediate Needs Assessments for adults on both a single and joint instruction basis.
