Sarah qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2000 and has extensive experience working in the acute and long-term rehabilitation of adults and children since this time.  Sarah has worked across acute and community settings, including stroke rehabilitation units, neurological day services, elderly rehabilitation and mental health services.  More recently, Sarah has worked in the highly specialised area of hand rehabilitation, both in acute and community settings.  This has enabled her to lead a service which provided high level rehabilitation to clients with an emphasis on independence.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Sarah has been able to undertake longer term case management work with clients with long term conditions. She has further developed her empathetic and effective communication skills to be able to develop relationship with clients and their families and work towards agreed rehabilitation goals. Sarah’s leadership role has also provided further opportunities for her to manage teams of people and support the development of their skills and the service as a whole.

Sarah uses her skills and knowledge to provide holistic intervention: considering clients fatigue, cognition, mood, respiration and vocational needs and the impact on their functional and rehabilitation potential.  Sarah has particular experience with networking with wider teams whilst being able to develop solid relationships with clients and their families, further supporting her case management role.

  • Understanding of statutory and other services and joint working.
  • Working with and managing the MDT
  • Extensive experience of leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting patients emotionally following trauma
  • Complex hand trauma rehabilitation and treatment
  • Extensive experience of providing training to professionals, clients, families and carers.
